Exercise F

Based on the image attached, I have identified red, dark brown, dark blue, golden and green. The red hue as seen from the image, the chair, jewellery box, the bow of the flowers and my lipstick highlights a festive and happy season. Given that it was my 21st birthday, red also highlights a sense of maturity and femininity as I celebrate the day I enter adulthood. Red is often complemented with white as seen from the chair and jewellery box, to create a stark contrast in the colour, further emphasising the beauty of the red that looks classy when juxtaposed to white. The brown colour doors in the background complements the red theme in the house well, creating a rustic yet homey image. Brown here emphasises simplicity and comfort, that suits the mood of a household, while complementing the cream and red theme of the house. The golden plating under the plate emphasises a sense of premium, majestic and even the notion of wealth. Set under the tall birthday cake, the colour gold stands out and makes the cake look classy - seemingly expensive - highlighting the sense of premium. As it is a birthday celebration, the colour gold is eye-catching and brings our attention to the grandeur nature of the cake. The dark blue hue as seen on the jewellery box encapsulate a sense of classiness, and even nobility. Given the content of the box, which highlights a beautiful ring, the colour complements the content well, making the ring seem all the more classy and a perfect present. The dark green marble table highlights a sense of tranquility and even sturdiness. Since the table is made of marble, the green hue does make the table look sturdy and antic - matching the rustic interior of the house. All in all, the hues match each other to create a rich symphony of colours, conveying a sense of homeliness, classiness, as well as a festive season.

  The painting, “ A short History of Modernism” was drawn by Mark Tansey in the year of 1982. It takes reference to the history of modernism dated back from the 1860s to 1970s. He separated his paintings into three sections. In the first section, we observe a purple-tinted painting of a lady standing outside of her house with nature at her backdrop, holding onto a hose and cleaning the clear glass window.   For this assignment, we had to choose between creating a personal brand identity or to create a brand identity for the CNM department. As a marketing student, I felt that personal branding identity would better benefit me hence I went ahead with that. When I first brainstormed the key aspects of my personal branding for the first presentation, I thought of key aspects that I would like to carry forth about myself. I want to be portrayed as a creative person, and a driven individual – but most importantly, I wanted to highlight my unwavering spirit against hardships that I have pushed through to show that I’m a strong and independent individual.   The text is in full caps, with a slab serif typeface. It also has a central alignment. The Slab-serif typeface has a strong, square finishing stroke. It is loud, and is usually effective in commanding readers' attention. However, as the letters are fully in caps, the length of each letter are the same and boxy, making it difficult for the readers to read. Furthermore, the body paragraph has very small leading between each line and relatively small text size, making it less readable. The use of center-alignment is also the most difficult to read as there is no consistent starting point. Since it also lacks illustration, the text as a whole also seem boring. To improve on this, I would first work on the typeface communication. I would take into account the content of the text, and replace the typeface if needed since I should be using one that represents the word that I'm writing about.
