Exercise D

Use your phone camera, choose a subject and compose it in various shot sizes and camera angles, while demonstrating your understanding of visual composition. Take about 4-6 images. State the purposes using these techniques and how does it affect your audience who perceive your subject.

Picture 1:

Picture 1: I took a close-up shot of the pants at an eye-level. By placing it at eye-level, this allows us to take a neutral and familiar shot. The close-up then zooms in to the top part of the pants where there are many details for us to pay attention to - such as the double button, belt loops, and the colour of the pants. As a viewer, I am given an objective point of view to clearly see the details of the pants which is at the centre apex of the picture.

Picture 2:

Picture 2: I took a mid shot at the eye-level. The mid-shot allows us to see the overall structure of the pants, the length of the pants, and the overarching details that I would be interested in as a buyer. The eye-level angle also gives me a neutral and objective point of view without altering any aspects of the pants.
Picture 3:

Picture 3: I took this medium shot from a low-angle. The medium shot is meant to encapsulate the details of the pants in its entirety. The low angle shot is to elongate the pants, making it seem more majestic than it is - which might be a quality buyers look for in pants.

Picture 4:

Picture 4: I took a medium close up shot at a canted angle. The medium shot is meant to place the emphasis on the pants as a whole. The canted angle on the other hand is meant to highlight a trendy vibe associated with the pants. This is to further emphasize how fashionable the pants are, making audience pay more attention to the pants as an attractive apparel.
